1,200 Political Assistants appointed to take Ogun government works to grassroots

The Ogun State Government has appointed 1,200 political assistants across the state’s 236 wards.
The Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Kayode Akinmade, said the move was part of efforts to deepen democratic participation and strengthen civic engagement at the grassroots.
In a statement he signed, Akinmade explained further that the strategic effort will expand access to the dividends of democracy across every community in the state.
According to him, the political assistants — five from each ward — will serve as change agents by articulating the needs of their communities to the government while also relaying government policies and feedback back to the people.
He stated that the initiative fulfilled governor Abiodun’s electoral promise of inclusive governance, ensuring no ward is left out of the state’s development agenda.
The State Governor charged the new appointees to contribute meaningfully to the progress of their wards, local governments, and Ogun State as a whole, by fostering closer collaboration between the people and government.
