15 passengers die in Sokoto boat accident

No fewer than 15 people have been killed in a boat accident in the Shagari Local Government Area of ​​Sokoto State.

The local government’s Chairman, Aliyu Shagari, who disclosed this to our correspondent on Wednesday said the incident happened on Tuesday evening and confirmed the death of 15 people.

He said, “The boat, which was conveying 25 people, was on its way to Mauludi when the accident occurred.”

Cases of boat accident have been recurring in Shagari region lately.

The state governor, Aminu Tambuwal, had in a condolence visit during another boat accident in the local government, promised to provide live jackets that will help prevent drowning in the event of such accident.
