400 students matriculated into Technical College Ado Ekiti

In an elaborate matriculation ceremony held at the College Hall on February 4, 2025, over Over 400 students of the Technical College Ado Ekiti have been officially matriculated.

The event, held at the College Hall on February 4, 2025, which was supervised by the Chairman, Board for Technical and Vocational Education, Kayode Babade, the Executive Secretary, Dr. Ben Àjàyí and other Board members, was also graced by the Commissioner for Education, Dr.Olabimpe Aderiye and the representative of the Director-General Office of Transformation and Service Delivery, Dr. Buhari Lateef.

Other state functionaries in attendance were the General Manager, BSES, Mr Olu-Popoola Rotimi and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr Omolayo Michael.

The host principal, Mr Jayeola Rufus thanked the dignitaries for their presence. He also appreciateed the state government for the prompt response given to the needs and activities of the college as and when required.

In addition, he appealed for the need to connect the 500kVA transformer in the college to the National grid, in order to facilitate ICT and workshop practical training given to the students among other operations

The Executive Secretary on his part said Ekiti Technical Colleges had never had it so good like now, especially under the indefatigable leadership of the chairman. He expressed confidence in the ability of the Matriculating College and the five others to successfully train competent skilled labour for Ekiti State across all 19 trade areas currently available.

While addressing the entire gathering, Kayode Babade appreciated the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, for the remarkable attention the administration has given the six Technical Colleges in Ekiti State.

 

According to him, the gesture is the reason the College in Ado-Ekiti is fondly regarded as the best Technical College facilities in Southwest Nigeria. He enjoined parents, guests, members of staff and students to continue to publicise the good efforts of Mr Governor and encourage their wards and friends to seek admission into any course of their interest.

Also speaking at the event, the Special Assistant to the Governor of Ekiti State on Technical and Vocational Education, Ayodeji Odetola stressed the need for Technical Education for further technological developments as the world is going technical.

He said Technical and Vocational skills should be encouraged to enhance a better future of our dear nation.

“What we need now is a Technical and Vocational Education to guarantee the future of our nation. He advised the students to be loyal, honest and run from cultism.

In her goodwill message, the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Aderiye advocated greater inclusion in the admission process into the college. She expressed her delight at Government’s passionate interest in TVET education, adding that the matriculating students also stand to learn soft skills that will make them valuable and productive members of Ekiti State.
