Huge loss as fire razes First Bank branch in Imo

lot of cash and other valuables have been lost after fire razed a branch First Bank Plc along Ahiara junction in the Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.

It was gathered that the fire outbreak started from a nearby fuel station and spread to the bank where it destroyed the structure and other assets.

A source said the fire occurred on Tuesday afternoon.

The source said,  “The fire started from a nearby fuel station and spread to the First bank building and destroyed it. Assets worth millions of naira were lost.”

The spokesperson for the police in the state, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident.

He said that it took efforts of fire fighters from Owerri and residents to eventually put out the fire.

“An investigation has commenced to determine the cause of the fire outbreak,” the police spokesman added.
