Police accuse lawyer of killing husband after he discovered that their houseboy is her son
A lawyer is facing court action for allegedly killing her husband, Godwin Ikoiwak.
The police say 36-year-old lawyer Abasiesebanga Ikoiwak killed her man after he discovered that their houseboy was actually the wife’s biological son.
The lawyer was arrested along with five others by Akwa Ibom State Police Command for allegedly killing her 41-year-old husband.
According to the prosecution witness, who testified before the Uyo High Court, the late Godwin, also a lawyer, had no idea the houseboy, who had been living with him for years, was his step son, since his wife had told him the child was her younger brother’s.
The deceased’s friend, Sunny Anyanwu, told the court Godwin died after a phone call in which he divulged that he was experiencing problems with his wife about infidelity.
Anyanwu said the man intimated that he reported the incident to his wife’s family, who called him to a meeting at their family property in Nung Udoe Itak, Ikono Local Government Area, adding that Godwin did not return home alive.
Anyanwu, the seventh prosecution witness in the case, also stated that the late lawyer informed him that his wife was having a sexual connection with her former boss, a legal practitioner.
Ikoiwak reportedly informed Anyanwu that his wife worked as a housekeeper for a Catholic priest and that the priest impregnated her, adding that they produced a child, who is now 19 years old.
The prosecution team, led by Akwa Ibom State Director of Public Prosecutions, Joseph Umoren, submitted the audio evidence, which was played in open court.
