Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State is currently meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Fubara arrived at the Presidential Villa on Thursday evening and went straight to the office of the President for the closed door meeting.

Fubara has held several meetings with Tinubu since his face-off with his predecessor, who is the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, began.

At the last Aso Rock meeting, the governor signed an 8-point agreement, which was meant to resolve the dispute with Wike, but the crisis is far from being over.

After signing the agreement, Fubara launched a live band, a style peculiar to his predecessor, and a song, “Dey your dey”, went viral.

The song, which literally translates as ‘respect my boundaries as I respect yours, aptly describes the present relationship between him and his predecessor.

The song depicts a strong message to Wike’s camp to stay on their lane while the former maintains his.

Days after the release of the song, Fubara attended a crossover church service at the Saint Paul Archdeaconry Parish in Opobo town in Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, where he had said, “What they want is this red biro but it is still with me. We are the winners because we are still signing with the red biro. As long as we are signing with the red biro, development will continue in Rivers State.”

This has been described by observers as a veiled mockery of Wike although the governor did not mention his name directly.

Responding at a gathering, Wike, who also abstained from mentioning his successor’s name, said, “We will soon know who is in charge.”
