Stevie Wonder gets Ghanaian citizenship on 74th birthday

Stevland Hardaway Morris, aka Stevie Wonder, an American singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer, has been granted Ghanaian citizenship.

The 74-year-old legendary music star was granted the honour on May 13, the day of his birthday by President Nana Akufo-Addo  of Ghana.

Recall that Stevie Wonder who is presently in Ghana in 2021 expressed the desire of relocating tp Ghana.

He will hold his American citizenship and his now his Ghanaian citizenship.

After the honor, he said, “I guess it’s just the lineage I felt Ghana, I felt my civilization was there, and I was there where it began. So, I thank all of you so very much.”

Over the years Stevie Wonder has garnered 25 Grammy Awards, as well as the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996.

In the mid-70s, his album “Songs in the Key of Life” topped the charts for 14 weeks.

Stevland Hardaway Morris has nine children.
