Some youths have hit the street in Kano protesting against the deposition of Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero

The protesters stormed the state Road along the government House shortly after conducting a special prayer session.

There was presence of heavy security personnel at the scene providing protection to the Nassarawa mini palace.

The youths who are protesting to show support for the dethroned 15th Emir, displayed placards with various inscriptions.

Among the inscriptions are ‘Abba Kabir Yusuf obey Court order. Court brought you and you must obey Court’ and ‘We are against injustice, Aminu is still our Emir among other inscriptions.’

Meanwhile, some residents of Gaya on Sunday protested over the decision of the Kano State Government to dissolved the new five emirate, including Gaya Emirate.

The protesters who took to the streets of Gaya, condemned the action of the State Government and the State House of Assembly.

The protesters carried placards with various inscriptions, chanting anti-government songs, saying the dissolution of the emirate has political undertones.

Recall the Kano State Government on Thursday repealed Kano Emirates Council Law.

The New Nigeria People’s Party controlled House of Assembly had repealed the law which former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje used to dethrone Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II in 2020.

While assenting to the law on Thursday, Governor Abba Yusuf announced the dissolution of the four extra emirates created by Ganduje.

The emirates are Rano, Gaya, Karaye and Bichi.

The governor also directed all the monarchs hand over to Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, Deputy Governor, who oversees the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affair.
