Manchester United star, Cristiano Ronaldo is hopeful that new Red Devil boss, Erik ten Hag, can bring silverware to the club as soon as next season.
Ronaldo’s future had been uncertain until Ten Hag confirmed he was part of his plans last month.
In an interview with United’s official website, Ronaldo also appeared to confirm he would be staying next season.
Speaking on his emotional return to Manchester United, Ronaldo revealed: “I was and still am very happy to be here.”
The Portuguese is also optimistic that new manager Ten Hag can bring immediate glory after last season marked five years without a trophy for the Red Devils.
The Dutchman was brought in as a long-term project and while Ronaldo stressed the need to give him time, he is also eyeing instant success under the new permanent boss.
He said: “I know he [Ten Hag] did a fantastic job for Ajax and that he’s an experienced coach but we need to give him time.
“Things need to change the way he wants. I hope we have success, of course.
“Because if you have success all of Manchester is going to have success as well so I wish him the best.”
Ronaldo has just one season left on the two-year deal he signed when rejoining the club last summer.
Although he reckons the Red Devils are in a good enough position to finally get their hands back on some silverware next term.
He added: “We are happy and excited, not only as players but the supporters as well.
“I wish him the best and let’s believe that next year we are going to win trophies.”
