Alleged fraud: Yahaya Bello visits EFCC office again with lawyers
A former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has again presented himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Recall that the former helmsman at the Kogi State is being prosecuted by the anti-graft agency for crimes bordering on alleged misappropriation of funds.
He had earlier presented the EFCC office with his successor, Governor Usman Ododo, but the EFCC told him to go.
The agency later stormed the Kogi Governor’s lodge in Abuja late that day, shooting indiscriminately in a failed attempt to arrest the former governor who was believed to be there.
However, it was gathered that Bello again went to the EFCC office with his team of lawyers on Tuesday morning.
“He did not come with the Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo toay,” a source told our correspondent.
Recall also that the Supreme Court in a judgment recently dismissed states’ case on the constitutionality of the anti-graft agency.
Sources said Bello drove himself in a black Toyota Hilux to the EFCC office with his lawyers.
At the last hearing on November 14, the EFCC had sought for adjournment to tomorrow (November 27) in the fresh case it instituted against Bello, saying the 30 days window was still running for the summons earlier issued.
The EFCC, however, admitted his co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, to administrative bail and prayed the court for extension of time for the 1st Defendant to appear.
There has not been any comment from the EFCC as of press time.
