A high court in Nasarawa has remanded Timileyin Ajayi, the gospel singer, at the Lafia correctional centre for alleged homicide.

Ajayi was arrested in Nasarawa after he was allegedly caught with the severed head of Salome Adaidu, his girlfriend, in a polythene bag.

The incident occurred on Sunday in Agwan Sarki, Orozo, near the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Ajayi was arraigned on a one-count charge of culpable homicide punishable with death.

The court also held that Ajayi be remanded until a formal arraignment is scheduled later.

“Timilehin Ajayi was charged to Court today, on one count charge of Culpable Homicide Punishable with Death, contrary to Sec 221 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria,” reads a post from the X page of the Nasarawa police command.

“The Court orders that the suspect be remanded in Correctional Facility, Lafia pending formal arraignment on a date to be assigned.”

On Wednesday, Ajayi confessed to murdering Adaidu in a fit of anger after discovering she allegedly cheated on him.

He also revealed he does not feel remorseful about killing his girlfriend.

The remains of Adaidu were buried on Monday night.
