Oniru commends Nigerian Navy for Nigeria’s strong maritime defense

The Oniru of Iruland, Oba Omogbolahan Lawal, has lauded the leadership of the Nigerian Navy for ensuring that the nation’s maritime defense remains strong and forward-thinking.
Oba Lawal gave the commendation on Tuesday in Lagos when he paid a courtesy call on the Naval echelon at the Naval Dockyard Limited and Naval Doctrine Command as part of activities marking his fifth coronation anniversary.
According to the Oniru, the two institutions remain valued partners in his #LeGIT Vision (Let’s Grow Iruland Together), particularly in areas of security, infrastructure, stakeholders’ engagement and environmental stewardship.
While renewing his commitment towards building stronger alliances for the peace, safety and prosperity of Iru Kingdom in particular and Nigeria in general, the monarch stressed the importance of deepening the longstanding relationship between his palace and the Nigerian Navy, which holds the constitutional responsibility for securing Nigeria’s waterways.
Oba Lawal also acknowledged the critical roles in supporting naval operations through maintenance, repairs and construction of naval vessels adding that it is a great source of pride that this vital national infrastructure is situated within his Kingdom.
He added, “I commend your efforts in developing operational strategies, doctrines and training frameworks that guide the Navy’s readiness and effectiveness.
“This intellectual leadership ensures that Nigeria’s maritime defence posture remains strong and forward-thinking.”
