30-year-old son kills 75-year-old mother with brick stone in Jigawa

A 30-year old man, Hussaini Abubakar, has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing his mother in Dantanoma quarters in the Gumel Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The incident was said to have occurred on Sunday around 8pm.

The operatives of the Gumel Police Division reportedly received a distress call regarding a violent assault involving the mother and her son.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, is a statement said Abubakar, killed his 75-year-old mother, Dahara Mu’azu.

The statement added, “Upon arrival at the scene, the police discovered that the suspect had brutally attacked and killed his mother by repeatedly striking her head with mud block.

“The victim was found in a pool of blood with severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to the Gumel General Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, a medical doctor on duty confirmed that the elderly woman had died on June 30, 2025.”

According to the PPRO, Abubakar has been arrested and in police custody, cooperating with investigators.

He added, “He will be charged to court upon completion of a discreet investigation.”
