A High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, will today determine the fate of the state deputy governor, Rauf Olaniyan, who is facing an impeachment threat from some members of the state House of Assembly.
Recall that the deputy governor recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
Justice Akintola of the Ring Road High Court 7, yesterday, adjourned hearing on the matter till today.
He said, “The restraining order made earlier still subsists till tomorrow (today).”
This followed the failure of Chief Afolabi Fashanu (SAN), counsel to the Oyo State deputy governor, Rauf Olaniyan, to file a reply to the objection filed by the Speaker, the Clerk and the Oyo State House of Assembly on the matter of impeachment going on in the state.
Four of the 33 lawmakers in the Oyo State House of Assembly had on June 15, 2022, brought five allegations against the deputy governor.
The allegations included, “gross misconduct, abuse of office, financial recklessness, abandonment of office and official duty and insubordination and other offences.”
