Ogun labour unions suspend strike, workers directed to resume work immediately

The Ogun State Organised Labour on Tuesday announced the suspension of the industrial strike it embarked on since Monday July 14, 2025.
A statement on Tuesday said resumption would take effect from same Tuesday, 22nd July, 2025.
The statement from labour reads;
NOTICE OF SUSPENSION OF STRIKE
Decisively, the State Organised Labour partook in numerous engagements with the State Government outcome of which produced the signed Memorandum of Action, (MOA) herein attached.
It follows the procedure therefore that the called industrial strike which began on Monday, 14th July, 2025 be put on hold so as to give space and time to the implementation of the Action(s) as spelt out in the MoA. Resumption takes effect from today Tuesday, 22nd July, 2025.
REASONS FOR SUSPENSION OF THE INDUSTRIAL STRIKE
INTERVENTIONS FROM EMINENT CITIZENS
The interventions of our revered Paramount Rulers, National Leaderships of our various Unions, and esteemed Labour Veterans both at home and abroad played pivotal roles in shaping the course of this struggle.
Their wise counsels, passionate mediation, and tireless efforts neiped open a path for constructive dialogue with the State Government..
MEANINGFUL ENGAGEMENT WITH THE STATE GOVERNMENT
In their extensive interactions with the State Government, these stakeholders advocated strongly for the interests of workers whilst we also gave some committed insights into the talks. Overall, in depth contributions aimed at protecting the future of all workers and making their sweat count, (labour dignity) formed the driving force of all inputs from cross sections of the interventionists, and particularly the organized labour. These efforts helped us secured the relative marks scored in the struggle.
SECURITY CONCERNS
Security reports is not that favourable for us to call for any further gathering. Our safety is paramount and have to be pursued.
In light of these development, and in consideration of the temporary agreements reached with government, Labour resolved to suspend the strike.
The agreement is taken as a demonstration of commitment by the State government. We are poised to also give close monitoring of their pledges.
CALL FOR STEADFASTNESS
Yes, the strike is suspended, the struggle is not over. We charge all workers across the State to remain resolute, vigilant, and steadfast. Let us continue to uphold the spirit of unity and maintain faith in the fulfillment of our expectations as outlined in the agreement.

Leadership of the State Organised Labour extends our immense appreciation to the entire workforce of Ogun State for their doggedness, unwavering solidarity, and perseverance throughout the duration of the strike.
Your courage and unity have been both inspiring and impactful.
Once again, we sincerely thank every worker, supporter, and ally of the labour movement. Your voices, actions, and sacrifices have not gone unnoticed. Together, we have shown that a united workforce is a powerful force for change.
Meantime, please be assured that no one in either that of the Civil/Public Service or that of the Local Governments Service will be victimised for their participation in the struggle.
