FG to give out World Bank-funded $500m meters free

The World Bank-funded $500 million meters is to be given free by the Distribution Companies (DisCo) to customers, says the Bureau of Public Enterprises.

The Director-General of the BPE, Ayodeji Gbeleyi, revealed this on Wednesday during a strategic meeting with the DisCos.

According to him, the bureau is collaborating with critical stakeholders in the power sector to bridge the metering gap estimated at 5.66 million meters across the country.

The DG added that the agency is collaborating with 11 DISCOs on the distribution of the meters.
