EPL: Arsenal stumble again in title race with draw at Wolves

Arsenal were denied all three points by a late goal in their 2-2 draw against Wolves in their English Premier League (EPL) encounter at the Molineux on Wednesday.
Tom Edozie, a British teenager of Nigerian heritage, scored the late leveller that dealt Arsenal a heavy blow just six minutes into his EPL debut for Wolves.
The match presented an opportunity for the Gunners to move seven points clear of Manchester City in the title race, but the North Londoners bottled a two-goal advantage to further blow the title race wide open despite strikes from Bukayo Saka and Pedro Hincape.
Arsenal took just five minutes to take the lead against the EPL basement club, Saka, who played centrally on the night, nodded Declan Rice’s cross into the net to end a 15-match goal drought.
The league leaders continued to dominate but waited until the 56th minute to double their lead through Hincape’s well-struck shot that ended in the net for his first goal since joining Arsenal.
The visitors’ defence, however, let Wolves back in the game, conceding five minutes after doubling their lead. Hugo Bueno’s curled effort from the edge of the penalty area reignited the contest for what proved to be a nervous end to the game in which the hosts capitalised through Edozie.
The winger was a last throw of the dice from the home dugout, and he dug up the equaliser four minutes into added time. He capitalised on a loose ball that landed for him following a rare communication error from goalkeeper David Raya and defender Gabriel, responding with a ferocious shot that Ricardo Calafiori could only divert into the net on the line.
A share of the points after the final whistle moves Mikel Arteta’s side up to 58 points from 27 matches, five points ahead of Man City, who have played a game less. Wolves continue their slide into relegation, as the 20th-place club have only 10 points this season, with 11 matches left.
