Burna Boy sparks rumour of conversion to Islam after reciting ‘Allahu Akbar’ in new video

Burna Boy has sparked fresh conversations online after a video showing him reciting Islamic phrases surfaced, fueling speculation about his religious conversion.

Earlier in November 2025, the “Like to Party” hitmaker revealed that he had explored different religions in what he described as a personal search for truth.

Although he mentioned converting to Islam at some point, he also admitted that he remains uncertain about his spiritual journey.

“I grew up as a Christian, but then I converted to Islam and all types. It is like I have studied it all. I am still out here trying to find what is really going on,” he said.

The recent video wherein he said “Allahu Akbar” prompted widespread discussion online, with Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to ex-president Muhammadu Buhari, commenting on the speculation.

“Some people close to him said he converted to Islam, but there has been no official confirmation directly from him yet,” he wrote.

In his response, Rahman Jago, a close associate to Burna Boy, responded: “He converted. He is now a Muslim”.

His response led to mixed reactions on X. While some users offered prayers for his new path, others questioned his sincerity, suggesting the move may have been influenced by those around him.

“He’s so stupid for this peer pressure wan wound am,” a user wrote.

Ahmed wrote: “Masha Allah. I am so happy for him!”
