IGP Disu summons Akerele over misconduct at Lagos taskforce

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has summoned Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Adetayo Akerele to the Force Headquarters.
He is to appear before the IGP in Abuja on Monday following mounting allegations of high-handedness, corruption and alleged impunity linked to him and other policemen under his command.
Securitynewsalert.com reports that the summon comes amid increasing public concern and scrutiny over the conduct of some police officers, with reports suggesting that Akerele’s actions have drawn criticism from members of the public and civil society groups.
In one of the complaints, a policemen from the unit was seen in a viral video, parking a vehicle to implicate the driver of driving against the traffic, popularity called, one-way drive.
The attempt by the policeman to manufacture, was said to have made other victims to come out on social media handles to share their dreadful encounters with men of the Lagos State Taskforce.
Sources indicate that the summons is part of an internal review process aimed at addressing the allegations and reinforcing accountability within the Nigeria Police Force.
While official details of the accusations remain limited, the move signals the police leadership’s response to growing calls for transparency and discipline within the ranks.
