Alia declares one-week Easter holiday in Benue

The Benue State Government has declares one-week Easter holiday for all public and civil servant starting from Tuesday, March 31, 2026, with a resumption date on Wednesday, April 8, 2026
Permanent Secretary Godwin Tighil stated this on Tuesday on behalf of Secretary to the State Government Deborah Abber, in a statement, adding that the holiday was approved by Governor Hyacinth Alia.
He noted that workers in essential services are expected to remain on duty to handle urgent matters.
“Governor Alia extended Easter greetings to residents, urging prayers for peace in Benue State and the nation.” The statement said.
This marks the first time a one-week Easter holiday has been declared for Easter.
Recall that governor had previously approved a two-week Christmas break for workers.
