Fasoye indicates interest in 2027 presidential election

Fayose
A former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has declared interest in the 2027 presidential election.
In an interview with Channels Television, Fayose stated that he is open to contesting for the presidency, particularly if he is selected as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate.
He affirmed his readiness to face President Bola Tinubu should his party nominate him.
Fayose emphasized that his interest depends on the party’s internal selection process, noting that the party convention is the proper avenue for choosing a flag bearer.
He pledged to respect the party’s decision and align with its outcome, adding that any presidential aspirant must be well-prepared, build nationwide support, and have a clear plan to engage with citizens.
“I would love to contest against BAT; if the PDP picks me as flag bearer, I will do my best,” he said.
Fayose also predicted that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is likely to secure the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket. While he acknowledged the talent and respect enjoyed by Peter Obi, he noted that winning the presidency at this stage would be challenging.
