Lagos Link Bridge, multi-purpose complex inaugurated

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday inaugurated the Opebi–Mende–Ojota Link Bridge in Lagos.
The bridge was inaugurated by the President’s representative, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who described the project as a critical intervention in addressing traffic bottlenecks.
Akpabio led other political leaders and dignitaries to the event, where they were, however, delayed by heavy rainfall in the area.
Akpabio and other political leaders, later proceed to the state multi-purpose complex named after Tinubu.which was also inaugurated.
Addressing the dignitaries at the event, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, attributed the success of the project to Tinubu.
Sanwo-Olu maintained that projects were borne out of the foundation laid by the President during his time as the state governor.
He described the project as a dividend of democracy.
“We have worked and toiled for this state. We leave it better than we met it. This is the work of a man whose work never finishes because his vision is never small.
Sanwo-Olu said the bridge is part of the THEMES+ development agenda, noting that the multi-billion-naira project reflects the government’s commitment to modernising urban infrastructure.
Constructed by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, the bridge was completed within an accelerated timeframe of less than two years.
The new link is expected to open up alternative routes for motorists navigating heavily congested areas such as Opebi, Allen Avenue and Maryland, while providing a direct connection to Ojota and other parts of Ikeja.
