Chelsea sacks head coach Liam Rosenior after 107 days

Chelsea Football Club have officially parted ways with head coach Liam Rosenior after just 107 days in charge.
Chelsea sacked Rosenior after a disastrous run of form that saw the club lose five consecutive Premier League matches without finding the net, bringing his reign at Stamford Bridge to an abrupt end.
The decision was confirmed by the club on Wednesday in an official statement, with Chelsea citing poor recent performances and results as the main reason behind the move.
The statement read, “Chelsea Football Club has today parted company with Head Coach Liam Rosenior.”
The club also thanked Rosenior and his coaching team for their efforts during their short spell in West London.
“On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, we would like to place on record our gratitude to Liam and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club.”
Rosenior was appointed in January on a six-year contract after replacing Enzo Maresca, but his time at the club quickly turned difficult.
The former Strasbourg manager leaves with Chelsea sitting seventh in the Premier League, seven points behind the Champions League qualification places.
A damaging run of five straight defeats ultimately sealed his fate. Chelsea lost to Newcastle United, Everton, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Brighton, failing to score in every match.
Despite the poor league form, Chelsea are still in the FA Cup and remain in the race for European qualification.
The club stated that Calum McFarlane will now take charge as interim head coach until the end of the season.
Chelsea also said they will begin the search for a permanent manager soon.
McFarlane’s first game in charge will be Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final clash against Leeds United at Wembley Stadium.
The club stated, “As the club works to bring stability to the head coach position, we will undertake a process of self-reflection to make the right long-term appointment.”
