Boluwatife Fayose, son of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, recorded a sweeping victory in the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly primary election for Irepodun/Ifelodun Constituency II.

He defeated the incumbent lawmaker and former Deputy Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hakeem Jamiu.

The primary election, which attracted significant political attention across the state, saw Bolu Fayose dominate virtually all the wards in the constituency with a wide margin, ending Jamiu’s bid for a third term in the state assembly.

According to results from the exercise, Bolu Fayose secured 4,165 votes across the wards, while Jamiu polled 372 votes.

The outcome is one of the biggest upsets in the ongoing APC assembly primaries in Ekiti State, especially considering Jamiu’s status as a ranking member of the House and former Deputy Speaker.

The result is also being interpreted in some political circles as a significant boost for the political influence of the Fayose family within the APC structure in Ekiti, despite Ayodele Fayose’s longstanding association with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
