A non-profit group, the Prayer and Support for the Nigerian Armed Forces & Other Security Agencies, has congratulated the Nigerian Army on the successful rescue and release of 360 persons in Borno State.

Recall that the persons were held captive by Boko Haram militants in the Mandara Mountains of the state before their rescue.

In a statement signed by Ambassador Mary Abayomi Fatile, the Convener, Prayer & Support for the Nigerian Armed Forces & Other Security Agencies, the group commended the military for the feat and also commended the Nigeria Police Force for securing the release of the sister of former Power Minister Adelabu and her twins.

“These are remarkable achievements that deserve the heartfelt appreciation of every Nigerian.

“We salute the bravery and dedication of our security personnel and pray that Almighty God continues to grant them wisdom, strength, and grace to protect this nation. May their efforts bring further victories and restore safety to communities across the country,” the prayer group added.

It appealed to security agencies in all states to intensify efforts toward securing the release of the school children and teachers still in captivity.

“Every day they remain in abductors’ hands is a wound on the conscience of this nation,” it added.

The Prayer and Support group urged the public to choose encouragement over condemnation, saying men and women in uniform continue to serve under difficult and often dangerous conditions.

“They stand guard through rain and shine, spending months and years away from their families, sacrificing comfort and safety so that all Nigerians may live in peace. They are our brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters, and they deserve our love, gratitude, and solidarity.

“Security is a shared responsibility, and every citizen has a role to play. We therefore urge all Nigerians to adopt the mantra: “If you see something, say something.” Any suspicious activity, movement, or item should be reported promptly to the nearest security agency or through official emergency lines.

“Through unity, vigilance, and support for our security personnel, we can build a safer and more peaceful nation for everyone,” the statement added.

The group urged  political leaders not to weaponize the suffering of the Nigerians for political gain.

“The tears of kidnapped children and grieving families will echo louder than any campaign promise. Lead with compassion and urgency, or the weight of inaction will be your legacy.

“Enough of insecurity. Enough of bloodshed. Enough of kidnapping. Nigerians deserve peace, and together , leaders and citizens alike can build it.”
