Two residents of communities bordering the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Ojoo, Ibadan, Oyo State, have landed in hospital after they were reportedly hit by ‘training’ bullets from the cantonment.
A resident of the area Mr. Akin Adeagbo said the residents were hit on Wednesday and Thursday during training of soldiers in the division.
Reports of bullet pellets landing on roofs of houses around the perimeter fence of the cantonment have been a recurring issue for over two decades.
Adeagbo disclosed that the soldiers seemed to be having intensive training during which two residents were hit by bullets.
He stated that the two victims were taken to hospital for treatment but could not confirm the name of the hospital.
He added that the the communities had appealed to the leadership of the cantonment severally but there had been no stoppage to such incidents.
He said: “That’s what we go through here. We wake up sometimes to see bullet pellets in our compounds. We have complained and appealed to the Army authority but it seems they are not ready to stop the act. We have left them to God.”
