One resident of Jigawa State, as well as seven cows, died in an auto crash that occurred in the Gagarawa Local Government Area of the state.
The police in the state added that no fewer than 10 other residents were left with varying degrees of injury in the incident that occurred on Tuesday around 2.30pm in Basuwa village.
He added that 10 c0ws were immediately slaughtered as a result of the injuries the sustained.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu, said in a statement, “On Tuesday, ariund 2.30pm, there was a fatal motor vehicle accident at Bosuwa junction in Gagarawa LGA involving a trailer with number plate, Yobe FUN 351 XA, loaded with about 38 cows driven by one Abdullahi of Potiskum, Yobe.
“On reaching Bosuwa junction, the driver lost control of his vehicle, veered off the road and collided with a stationary red Sharon vehicle with number plate, NNR 394 XA, parked at the shoulder of the road.”
The PPRO said a police team took the victims who sustained varying degrees of injury to hospitals.
The spokesman added, “One of the victims was confirmed dead at Gumel General Hospital, while nine others were admitted at Gagarawa Primary Healthcare Centre.
“Seven of the cattle died, while 10 critically injured ones were slaughtered.”
