The Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, has officially inaugurated the complete overhaul of the 70-kilometer L,agos-Sango Ota-Abeokuta Road.

He assured residents that the project would be completed in 18 months.

This critical road project, which has been neglected for over 21 years, marks a major step forward in the state’s development efforts.

The road which has been a source of concern for commuters and businesses due to its poor condition, has hindered economic activities and caused daily hardship for residents.

Abiodun at the turning of sod/official flag off of the highway in Itori, Ewekoro end of the highway, emphasized the importance of the Lagos-Sango Ota-Abeokuta Road in connecting key commercial and residential areas within the state.

The governor said that the road’s importance prompted his administration to seek the Federal Government’s approval for its total rehabilitation.

Abiodun noted that the rehabilitation of this vital road was long overdue, adding that his administration would ensure that its construction would meet modern standards.

He said the project was a complete overhaul, which would include resurfacing, drainage improvement, and the installation of road furniture to enhance safety and durability.

The governor said the road, first awarded for construction in 2003, was not completed due to insufficient funds.

The governor said, “This road has been a major source of concern for over two decades. We understand the impact its poor state has had on our people, and we are determined to make a lasting difference.

“This project is not just about fixing a road; it’s about improving lives, boosting our economy, and making Ogun State a better place to live and do business.”

Abiodun said the reconstruction would cover a length of about 70km and would be divided into five-team gangs of Ota, Ifo, Papalanto, Ewekoro and Abeokuta.
