Adeleke stops activities at newly inaugurated Ilesha varsity
The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has suspended activities on the newly established University of Ilesha till further notice.
The university was established at the tail end of first term tenure of former governor Adegboyega Oyetola in 2022.
Adeleke, on assumption of office, inaugurated a review committee on the establishment of the university.
A circular by the Secretary to State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, with reference number SSG.165/Vol. VI/ 42, dated January 25, sighted by The Nation yesterday, ordered that activities should be put on hold by the council and organs of the new university.
The circular titled, ‘University ofUniversity of Ilesha: Matters Affecting,’ reads, “As you are kindly aware, the Executive Governor of Osun State, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, had already inaugurated an Ad hoc Committee on the university.
“Consequently, all activities of the Council and other organs of the new university are to be put on hold pending further directives by the state government.
“While the state government appreciates the Governing Council of the university, please accept the assurances of my warmest regards and best wishes.”
