After 196 days of industrial action, the Academic Staff Union of Universities has again rolled over its ongoing strike.

The action of the striking varsity lecturers came after its National Executive Council meeting held in Abuja.

The meeting which began late Sunday at the University of Abuja’s headquarters of ASUU, ended early Monday morning with the resolution that the strike be rolled over.

This decision was arrived at after a heated and stormy National Executive Council, NEC, meeting of the union in Abuja.

The action of the nation’s public university lecturers’ union dashes the hopes of many, including parents, who had expressed optimism while the NEC was meeting.
