Air Peace says it plans to commence international flight operations from London to Gateway International Airport in Ogun this summer.
Allen Onyema, chief executive officer (CEO) of the airline, spoke on Saturday while speaking with journalists during the inauguration of the airport.
Onyema described the facility as one of the best-equipped in Sub-Saharan Africa, commending the Ogun state government for its delivery.
He added that the airline has received approval from the aviation ministry to proceed with the planned operations.
“This is one of the best, if not the best airport in Sub-Saharan Africa. It is not just a building; it is everything you can think of that makes an airport an airport. Just the same thing if not better than what you find in the western world,” he said.
“Air Peace will not sit back and watch this place go unused. What he has done for Ogun state is not just for Ogun state alone, but the entire country, Nigeria. We are coming here under the governor’s invitation to start London-Gatwick and London-Heathrow flights to Gateway International Airport this summer.”
Onyeama said Festus Keyamo, the minister of aviation, has told Air Peace to proceed with operations at the airport.
