Alleged 10bn Fraud: Kwara ex-gov Ahmed granted N50m bail

A former governor of Kwara State Abulfattah Ahmed has been granted bail by the Federal High Court Ilorin in the sum of N50m.

He will provide two sureties with landed properties in Ilorin, the state capital.

Ahmed was arraigned on Friday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Ahmed will also deposit his passport with the court among other conditions.

Journalists were barred from covering the arraignment of the former governor.

Ahmed was governor of Kwars State between May 2011 and May 2019.

Ahmed was on Monday grilled and detained by the EFCC alleged fraudulent transactions totalling N10bn during his tenure as governor.
