APC’s Bassey Otu wins Cross River gov election

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, in Cross River, Bassey Otu, has been declared the winner of the governorship election in the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission returning officer in the state, Teddy Charle,said Otu polled 258,619 votes to defeat Sandy Onor of the Peoples Democratic Party who polled 179,636.

Otu won in 15 of the 18 LGAs in the state.

Otu will succeed Ben Ayade, the incumbent governor.

He was a former house of representatives member from 2003 – 2011 where he represented the Calabar municipal/Odukpani constituency of Cross River.
