Awujale: Jadiara family claimed by KWAM 1 disowns him

The Jadiara Royal Family of the larger Fusengbuwa Royal Family of Ijebuland has declared that revered musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall has no traceable link to the lineage.

Recall that in making known his interest in the Kingship stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland, KWAM1 1 mentioned that he was related to the Fusengbuwa Family whose turn it is to produce the next Awujale.

He has explained that his mother was from the Jadiara link of the Fusengbuwa Royal Family while his father was from Fidipote Family, who will produce the next Awujale after Fusengbuwa.

He has said that his mother’s link make him also eligible for the exalted seat.

But in a twist to the tale of the Fuji music legend and long-time ally of President Bola Tinubu, the Jadiara Royal Family has declared that Wasiu has no traceable link to their lineage.

The family, in a statement dated December 7, 2025, affirmed that KWAM1 has no genealogical ties to the ruling house, dismissing his claim that he is eligible for Awujale succession.

The statement signed by the Head of the Jadiara Royal House, Otunba Prince Akinola Odedina, was addressed to key authorities in Ogun State, including the Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Attorney-General, the Ijebu-Ode Local Government, and the Awujale Interregnum Administration Council.

Odedina explained that it became necessary to release the information about KWAM1’s genealogical linkage with the family in view of the public interest which the matter has generated.

He emphasized that the Jadiara House has no archaeological, documented, or oral historical record linking the Fuji musician to the lineage.

He also pointed out that although the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling Family may have issued KWAM1 a nomination form as part of the verification process, the musician has not appeared before the family nor presented any documents to prove his ancestry.

“I can say categorically that Wasiu has no genealogical linkage with the Jadiara Royal House.

“We in Jadiara Royal House have waited for him to show up with his form and whatever documents he may have to prove his linkage to Jadiara Royal House. He is yet to show up,” he added.
