Bandits demand 130 motorcycles to free 26 abducted Niger women
Bandits have demanded 130 motorcycles to free 26 abducted women in Allawa Community in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
They released a video showing two of the abducted women.
In the video, the women appealed to their various families to fulfil the demand of the terrorists for 130 motorcycles to secure their release.
In the 30-second video, one of the women who was tied to a tree, pleaded with her family to meet the kidnappers’ demands.
While speaking in Hausa, she called on a relative named Abdulrahman to help.
Abba Usman, a local resident, confirmed that the women shown in the video are among the 26 abducted in February.
He mentioned that the families of the two women have already provided six motorcycles, but the kidnappers are insisting on receiving four more before releasing them.
The families of the other 24 women informed the bandits that they are unable to afford the additional motorcycles.
The kidnappers are demanding five motorcycles for each of the 26 women, with each motorcycle valued at N2 million.
“My mother and sister were among those kidnapped seven months ago on the Allawa-Pandogari Road. On that day, eight men were killed before the women were taken away.
“The bandits have asked us to provide five motorcycles for each of the 26 women. We haven’t been able to raise the money, which is why they’re still in captivity,” Usman explained.
