Bandits unleash terror on Kaduna community, kill four, abduct 13

The Akurmi Development Association (AKURDA) has said another attack by suspected bandits on Gidan Waya community in Yarkasuwa, in the Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State left four people dead, while 13 others were abducted.
The incident occurred on Tuesday as assailants stormed houses, shooting indescriminately and whisking away residents, including women and children.
Those killed in the attack were identified as 18-year-old Promise Korau, 19-year-old Hycent Timothy, 40-year-old Mato Shagori, and Markus Ishaya.
According to a statement by AKURDA’s National President, Mr. Yakubu Maigamo, 13 others who were abducted during the assault include Rev. Istifanus Dungu (58), his wife Christiana (14), and son Prince (13).
Others abducted include Habibu Yahaya (42), Love Markus (38), Mummy Markus (49), Catherine Shitu (40), Ibrahim Bagobari (46), John Ibrahim (15), Miss Dauda, Mrs. Rev. Danbala Inuwa (38), Lois Markus (25), and Yohanna Umaru (30).
Three persons – Kephas Iliya (23), Philimon Daniel (25), and Ezra Samson (27) – reportedly sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment in hospital.
Maigamo described the attack as “barbaric and heartbreaking,” calling on the Lere LGA Chairman, security agencies, and Governor Uba Sani to strengthen security around Gidan Waya and neighbouring settlements.
“We demand justice for the victims and immediate deployment of security personnel to the area,” the statement added.
The association urged residents to remain calm but vigilant while praying for the safe return of the abducted and repose of the souls of those killed.
