Car thief steals Toyota Hilux from Kano deputy gov’s convoy

A suspected car thief has reportedly broken into the Kano State Government House and stolen a Toyota Hilux vehicle belonging to the convoy of the Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam.
According to Daily Nigerian, the car thief gained access to the Government House through Gate 4 and left with the vehicle around 5 am on Monday.
Insiders said CCTV footages analysed after the theft showed that the thief drove away through the main gate of the Government House.
The sources said further that the van was part of the deputy governor’s convoy.
Another source said that the deputy governor’s office complex was only patrolled during working hours or when he (deputy governor) is in office.
According to the source, the driver of the vehicle, Shafiu Sharp-Sharp, was interrogated and briefly detained.
“Already investigation has been launched. The driver is being quizzed, while the CSO (Chief Security Officer) is analysing the CCTV footage.
“The description of the vehicle has also been given to security agents to impound the vehicle and arrest the thief,” added the source.
