China imposes retaliatory 84% import tariff on US goods

China’s finance ministry has announced an 84% tariff on all goods imported from the US.
The ministry says that these new charges will take effect from 12:01 CST (05:00 BST) on 10 April.
Recall that Trump imposed 20% in tariffs in the first weeks of his Presidency and then an additional 34% in April, a move Beijing reacted to by placing a 34% retaliatory tariff.
Trump had warned that Beijing will see more tariffs unless China retracts her 34% retaliatory tariffs on US goods
According to the office of the USTR, the U.S. imported $438.9 billion in goods from China last year, up 2.8% from 2023.
