An Adamawa State High Court has ordered the arrest of former Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Yusnusa-Ari.

The order is coming after several attempts to arraign the ex-REC failed as he came up each time with an excuse for not being in court.

Hudu, the REC to Adamawa during the last governorship election, is facing charges for declaring a wrong winner when the process was yet to be completed when he was not even the right person to declare any winner.
He was suspended by thw Independent National Electoral Commission, which charged him to court.

As INEC did not seem to be making progress in the prosecution, the Adamawa State Government went to court against Hudu but the former REC kept evading summons.

Justice Benjamin Manji Lawan of the  Adamawa State High Court issued the warrant of arrest against Hudu, ordering the Inspector General of Police to  provide him in court with immediate effect.

Justice Manji issued the warrant of arrest in his ruling on the application by the Adamawa State Government through its counsels.

Moving the application earlier, counsel for the complainant, L. D. Nzadon referred the court to Section 20 Sub section (1j) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) 2018, urging the court to direct the arrest of Hudu wherever he is found.
