Court sentences Medical Director Olaleye to life imprisonment for defiling wife’s niece

A Lagos Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court sitting in Ikeja on Tuesday sentenced the Medical Director of Optical Cancer Care Foundation, Dr Olufemi Olaleye, to life imprisonment for defiling his wife’s niece.
Justice Rahman Oshodi sentenced him after he found him guilty of the offence of defilement and sexual penetration of the 16-year-old girl.
The judge held that the prosecution proved the two counts of defilement and sexual assault by penetration against Olaleye.
Oshodi said the evidence adduced before the court against the defendant was compelling and proved beyond reasonable doubts.
According to him, the confessional statement of the defendant, which he made before his lawyer, Olalekan Buruji and the DPO of Anthony Police Station, that he regretted his act, proved that he committed the offences.
The judge said the oral statement, which the defendant denied, had the NBA seal of Buruji on it and his denial did not hold water.
“You are a dangerous offender and you must be ashamed,” he said.
Recall that the medical doctor was arraigned on November 30, 2022, and he pleaded not guilty to the offences.
The Director of Public Prosecutions, Dr Babajide Martins, had told the court that Olaleye committed the offences sometime between February 2020 and November 2021.
He said the offence took place on Layi Ogunbambi close, Maryland, Lagos State.
Olaleye was accused of having unlawful sexual intercourse with his wife’s niece.
He was also accused of sexually assaulting the teenager by penetrating her mouth with his penis.
According to the prosecution the offences committed contravened Sections 137 and 261, of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.
