CP Jimoh breezes into Lagos command, takes charge

The Commissioner of Police Olohundare Moshood Jimoh officially assumed duty as the 41st Lagos Command boss on Tuesday, promising to build on the accomplishments of his predecessor.

Taking over from CP Olanrewaju Ishola, who has been redeployed to Force Headquarters, Abuja, Jimoh pledged to intensify efforts in line with the Inspector General of Police’s (IGP) agenda to ensure security and stability in Nigeria’s commercial hub.

Speaking on his first day in office, Jimoh hailed the achievements of his predecessor, acknowledging the strides made in crime control and public safety under Ishola’s leadership, especially the arrest of more than 50 cultists in his latest operation.

He assured Lagosians of his commitment to enhancing security, fostering community trust, and improving police operations.

A seasoned law enforcement officer with a strong background in security and administration, Jimoh hails from Ilorin, Kwara State, and holds a degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University.

Since joining the Nigeria Police Force in 2000, he has served in various capacities across Katsina, Cross River, Anambra, FCT, Oyo, Gombe, and Rivers States. His previous assignments include roles as Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Abuja, Force Public Relationsand Deputy Commissioner in Criminal Investigations, Finance, and Administration. Until his recent appointment, he was the Commissioner of Police at the Eastern Ports, Port Harcourt.

Jimoh’s impressive career includes extensive international training, spanning from combat operations and counterterrorism to maritime rescue and intelligence gathering, with specialized courses in the United States, South Korea, and China. His contributions to public relations in law enforcement earned him the Presidential Award for Public Relations Personality of the Year, and he has also been recognized for his role in the African Union Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan.

Jimoh called for maximum support and cooperation from residents, urging them to partner with the police to build a safer and more secure Lagos.
