Eclipse of the sun reported in Kano, Oyo

An eclipse of the sun has been reported in Kano State.

The report on X, formerly Twitter, was made by a user: Ahmad EO Abdulbaqi, who backed it up with a photograph.

There was also a report of an eclipse of the sun in parts of Oyo State.

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon moves between the sun and the earth, obscuring the sun’s face, and the sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk.

There had been reports that the world is expected to witness an eclipse of the sun on Monday, April 8, 2024 (today).

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration had announced that on Monday, April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will traverse North America, spanning across Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

In a statement made on Sunday, NASA emphasised the paramount importance of safety when observing a total solar eclipse.

It urged the public to wear specialised eye protection designed for solar viewing.
