The All Progressives Congress (APC) has refuted claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that civil servants were being pressured to participate in the party’s ongoing electronic membership registration exercise.
On Sunday, the ADC alleged that civil servants in many states are being pressured to participate in the ongoing APC e-registration exercise.
In a statement on Monday by Felix Morka, the party described the claims as “entirely false and baseless,” accusing the ADC of attempting to smear the party amid the success of its digital membership drive.
The APC said the claim forms part of a broader disinformation campaign by the ADC, which also included circulation of a fake “APC membership slip” purporting that a notorious terrorist had registered with the party.
According to the statement, millions of Nigerians have voluntarily registered as APC members under the party’s Renewed Hope Agenda, prompting the party to extend the registration period from January 31 to February 8, 2026.
The APC accused the ADC of being intimidated by the overwhelming response to the exercise and urged the opposition to desist from spreading false narratives.
“While the ADC continues to fumble and peddle falsehood, our great Party remains focused on its onward march as Africa’s standard-bearer of digital and democratic innovation,” the statement added.
