Ex-EFCC chairman, retired DIG Lamorde dies at 61years, EFCC confirms

A former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Lamorde, is dead.

He died in Egypt at the age of 61.

Lamorde was said to have died on Sunday in Egypt, where he had travelled for medical treatment.

Born on December 20, 1962, Lamorde joined the Nigerian Police in 1986  and retired as a Deputy Inspector General of Police in 2021.

As a police officer, he served as the chairman of the EFCC between 2011 and 2015.

Lamorde was the first Head of Operations when Retd AIG Nuhu Ribadu, the current NSA was the chairman.

He was also the third executive chairman of the Commission.

He was appointed on November 3, 2011, following the removal of Farida Waziri by former President Goodluck Jonathan.h

The family has yet to react to the death.

But the EFCC Head of Media and Publicity confirmed it.

“Expect our statements now,” he added.

The EFCC’s Head of Communication and former spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, could also not been reached on the telephone.
