Ex-employee steals boss car, says he needs money to bury father
Operatives of Rapid Response Squad have arrested a suspected vehicle thief.
They also recovered the stolen Toyota Camry, 2013 model in the Alausa Central Business District, Ikeja.
The suspect, Ada Joseph, 27, a former employee of the owner of the vehicle was arrested on Wednesday with the black Camry by RRS operatives acting on credible intelligence.
“Ada stole the vehicle around 7am on Wednesday in Osapa London, Lekki and drove it to Ikeja where a buyer was waiting for him before he was arrested around 11am
“Ada had worked with the owner of the vehicle for about a year before he was sacked by the owner sometime around June, 2024. The suspect confessed to have duplicated the vehicle key before he was sacked.
“Ada disclosed that he wanted to use the proceeds of the sales of the stolen vehicle to bury his embalmed father.
“The suspect has been transferred to the State Command for further investigations,” the Lagos Police Command spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin said in a statement.
