Fake soldier lures, robs models of cars, others

A 39-year-old man, Teddy Edwards, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for robbery.

The police said Edwards, who posed as Army Captain, was arrested after he robbed a model of her vehicle, and was reported to the police.

It was gathered that after the model reported the theft of the Lexus RX 330, the police trailed the SUV and arrested Edwards.

A source in the police said the suspect usually acts as a modeling agent, lures ladies for auditioning, and then robs them of their cars and other valuables at gunpoint.

The Lagos State Police Command spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident and the arrest.

He added, “Further investigation led to the recovery of a Ford Edge with number plate, KRD 276 EG, one sewing machine, a POS machine, two pairs of military camouflage uniform, one number plate – AFL 469 GD in the suspect’s house.”

“The owner of the Ford SUV is hereby urged to come forward to claim same. The suspect will be arraigned after investigation.

“The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, assures the people of Lagos State of the unwavering commitment of officers and men of the command towards annihilation of crime and criminality in the state.”

The command also said it arrested a 39-year-old fake soldier, Oluwatosin Gabriel, and an illegal supplier of military uniforms, Nurudeen Agboola.

Some of the items recovered from them are four pairs of military camouflage uniforms, nine live cartridges, military identity cards, and police accoutrements.
