Fire guts Providus Bank office in Lagos + Video

Providus Bank Head Office on Adeola Odeku, Victoria Island, Lagos, has been gutted by fire which killed a yet-to-be identified middle aged man.

An unspecified number of persons were also reportedly injured in the incident that occurred on Tuesday.

The fire was said to have emanated from the premises of the bank while a repair work was being carried out on its generator.

A vehicle belonging to the police attached to the bank was affected by the fire.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident.

He said, “The fire started within the bank premises on Tuesday morning. Our vehicle got burnt but of our officers were not affected.

“One person died and others were injured. The injured persons have been hospitalised.”
