Five die, 20 missing in Delta boat accident

No fewer than five persons have been recovered dead with 20 others still missing in a boat accident in the Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Two speed boats with passengers that were returning from a burial ceremony were said to have collided leading to the tragic incident.

The Delta State  Command Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, added that six persons were rescued alive, but not without injuries.

He said, “Those with injuries are receiving treatment at a hospital in Warri.

“This is a tragic accident, and we are working with marine units and local divers to locate the missing passengers.”
