Princess Adejoke Orelope‑Adefulire, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, is grieving the loss of her only son, Oluwafemi Olawale Adefulire

A medical doctor based in the United Kingdom, Adefulire reportedly passed away early Wednesday after undergoing a surgical procedure in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

A family source confirmed to Vanguard that he is survived by his wife and children, leaving relatives and political associates across Lagos and beyond deeply shaken.

In a condolence message on Thursday, Lagos APC Spokesman Seye Oladejo expressed the party’s grief.

“It’s sadly true. The kind of incident is most dreadful for parents. APC is devastated. Princess Adejoke Orelope‑Adefulire is an exceptionally good person. The entire party structure has been thrown into mourning over this humongous tragedy. May his precious soul rest in peace,” he said.

Princess Adejoke Orelope‑Adefulire is a prominent figure in Nigerian politics. She served as Lagos State Deputy Governor from 2011 to 2015 under former Governor Babatunde Fashola and currently holds the position of Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a role she first assumed under former President Muhammadu Buhari and was reappointed in 2023.

A respected administrator and social worker, she also served as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation from 2003 to 2011. She is the APC Political Apex Leader of Alimosho Federal Constituency and a member of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), the apex decision‑making body of the Lagos APC.

As of now, the family has not released further details regarding funeral arrangements.
