The Publisher of Freedom Online, Gabriel Akinadewo, has lost his son, Washington Oluwagbenga.

Twenty-one-year-old Washington died on Sunday at a private hospital in Lagos State following a brief illness.

Washington recently completed his university education in a university in Lagos and was preparing to proceed on his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) one-year programme in January.

He read Information Technology.

He has since been buried.

We pray that God gives the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

In the same vein, the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP)  condoled with Akinadewo.

In its condolence message via a letter signed by its President, Danlami Nmodu, mni, and its General Secretary, Sufuyan Ojeifo, GOCOP described Washington’s death as saddening and tragic, adding that his passing is a huge loss to the his family and friends.

The Guild urged the Akinadewo family to take solace in the focused and productive life their late son lived.

The letter reads in part, “Washington’s life, though cut short, was a testament to his potential and promise. His impending National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in January 2026, consequent upon his graduation from the University of Lagos, where he studied Information Technology, was a milestone that symbolised his dedication to scholarship and nation-building. His passing is a profound loss to your family, the online publishing community, and the nation at large.

“In this dark hour, we find solace in the memories of Washington’s life, his accomplishments, and the legacy he leaves behind. May these memories bring you comfort and strength, and may the Almighty God grant you, your wife, and loved ones the fortitude to navigate this difficult time.”

GOCOP prayed for the repose of Washington’s soul and God’s protection over his family and loved ones.
